Importance of Welding Torch maintenance
One of the most important peripherals for a robotic welding system is a nozzle-cleaning station. This peripheral is critical in maintaining operational performance of the robotic welding torch.
A nozzle-cleaning station cleans the robotic welding torch nozzle of spatter and clears away debris in the diffuser and around the contact tip that accumulates during the welding process. The cleaning station sprayer feature will apply a water or oil based anti-spatter compound to protect the nozzle, diffuser, contact tip and workpiece from spatter after it has been cleaned.
A nozzle-cleaning station has several benefits for the robotic welding process. By minimizing the accumulation of spatter and debris in the nozzle, it helps lengthen the life of the robotic torch consumables (nozzle, contact tip, and diffuser) and of the robotic gun itself. This longer equipment life translates into less downtime and labor for component changeover and also less cost for equipment. A clean nozzle and contact tip help to ensure consistent arc starts, produces better welds and reduces problems that could lead to rework. The "Sentry" Torch Guard, Robotic Mig Nozzle Cleaning System, has been developed to provide economy of movement, compact size and rapid cost recovery. By reducing robotic torch cleaning cycle time and maintenance costs, productivity and maximum "arc on time" may be increased dramatically.
The "Sentry" Torch Guard system requires minimal programming and only (1) torch move to fully service the welding torch. Complete torch maintenance including spatter removal, anti-spatter injection and wire trimming can be completed in less than 5 seconds.
The "Sentry" Torch Guard system is compatible with all brands of Robotic Mig torches and any nozzle / contact tip combinations.
